Wirral Council set scrap free swimming sessions

Wirral Council have confirmed that free swimming sessions are set to be scrapped from April 1.

Usually free swimming sessions were offered during the school holidays.

Wirral Council have cited the reason for the cuts as “part of budget savings”.

Pupils receiving the “pupil premium” will still be able to swim free and at present the process behind this is still being developed and as such not available yet.

Instead of the free swimming sessions, parents have been encouraged to pay £15 per month for their children to use the council’s swimming pools alongside other leisure options.
