Plans to host concerts at Anfield Stadium in July have been given the go-ahead.
Taylor Swift, Elton John and the Rolling Stones were among those to perform at the home of Liverpool FC during summer months across the previous seven years.
But live music events were not permitted in July to allow residents breathing space between the concerts and the start of the new football season begins in August.
However Reds officials have made successive applications to Liverpool City Council for its current licence to be amended to allow flexibility on hosting dates.
Sam Ryan, representing LFC at the hearing on Tuesday (October 20), said that Anfield had become the ‘preferred venue for major global artists’ touring the UK.
She also claimed the proposal, which would still retain the existing 31-day respite window, provided ‘significant socio-economic benefits’ to the city as a result.
However Councillor Portia Fahey, who represents the neighbouring Everton North ward, said the current restrictions were a ‘simple rule that works for residents’.
Darryl Shellard, who lives on Tancred Road, also issued an objection that claimed concerts cause disruption ‘bigger than matchdays’ due to increased road closures.
The council planning committee voted by a majority to change the permissions while LFC will donate to a community grant fund each time a concert is held at its stadium.
A figure of around £140,000 is already understood to have been granted to date.
