A new private, nurse-led ultrasound clinic has opened in Liverpool.
Love at First Scan in West Derby offers a unique blend of clinical excellence alongside a relaxed, deeply personal bonding experience for expectant parents.
Located on Eaton Road opposite Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, the clinic was founded to bridge the gap between sterile diagnostic environments and the emotional milestone of pregnancy.
The nurse-led clinic is CQC registered and provides a comprehensive range of core services, including:
- Early Pregnancy & Reassurance Scans: Carried out between 6 and 14 weeks to undertake vital health checks and offer critical peace of mind in the early stages of the pregnancy journey.
- Wellbeing & Gender Reveal Scans: Available from 14 weeks to check on the baby’s development and celebrate gender reveals.
- 4D Baby Bonding Experiences: Available from 24 to 32 weeks, utilizing state-of-the-art HD Live technology to capture incredibly detailed, real-time 3D images and 4D videos of a baby’s facial features and expressions.
In addition to pregnancy scans, the clinic offers private gynaecology scans and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT).
While every scan is carried out by fully qualified, HCPC-registered sonographers working within a strict, clinically governed environment, the clinic has been custom-designed as a warm, comforting, and inviting setting.
Love at First Scan was founded by registered nurse Leah Brown, a mum of two from Liverpool, who understands first-hand the anxieties and joys of the journey.
She said: “Love at First Scan is exactly the sort of clinic I was looking for when I was pregnant with my girls, who are now two years and seven months old.
“Some private clinics can feel far too clinical and impersonal, while others are not run by registered or regulated practitioners that you feel you can fully trust.

While the NHS routinely performs scans at 12 and 20 weeks, appointment times can occasionally feel rushed due to the immense strain on public health services.
Leah added: “It can feel like a very long time to wait for that first scan, especially for parents who have been trying for a baby for a while and might be anxious.
“For many, the pregnancy doesn’t feel entirely real until you see your baby moving around on the screen.
“Gender scans and bonding scans are major milestones that allow families to celebrate their baby and bond with them long before they say hello to the rest of the world.
