A Liverpool-born Olympian has been cleared of domestic abuse charges.
Curtis Robb represented Team GB in the 800m at the 1992 and 1996 games after starting out with Liverpool Harriers before becoming an orthopaedic surgeon.
But the 54-year-old originally from Woolton, was accused of coercive and controlling behaviour towards wife Sarah Robb between December 2015 and August 2024.
Robb, now living in Northwich, was reported to police in October 2023 after he allegedly pressed a pillow over her face in an argument on a recent family holiday.
Chester Crown Court heard allegations that the Warrington Hospital consultant had also ‘thumped’ Ms Robb on two occasions while pregnant with their third child.
She also claimed he described her as ‘neurotic’ and ‘a manipulative bitch’ in verbal attacks which cast doubt over her fitness as both a mother and a serving GP.
Robb, who was suspended from patient-facing duties after he was charged in April last year, denied all counts and was cleared by a jury on Tuesday (June 16).
