The ambulance that Mzee Mohammed was taken to hospital in has been taken to be examined as an investigation into the circumstances of his death continues.
The 18-year-old was taken to the Royal , where he was later pronounced dead, story shortly after being detained by officers and security guards in Liverpool ONE last week.
The IPCC is continuing its investigation and it has now emerged the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) vehicle he travelled in has been checked over as part of the investigation.
The vehicle was examined and footage was taken in order to show the condition it was in following its trip to the Royal.
The vehicle has now been released back to NWAS and their staff are also expected to be spoken with about the events.
The IPCC probe includes interviews with police officers who attended the incident, health and the seizure of one of those officer’s bodycam footage.
Mr Mohammed was taken to the Royal after he became “unwell” while police and security guards detained him at the shopping complex.
Merseyside Police said they were called to reports of a man acting “erratically” and carrying a knife.
Footage showing the teenager handcuffed on the ground and surrounded by police has since emerged, with the teenager’s family are demanding answers over why he was held and how he was treated.
