Man arrested after drone disrupted Liverpool FC match

A man has been arrested after a drone saw Liverpool’s friendly with Huddersfield Town temporarily halted.

Goals from Marko Grujic and Alberto Moreno saw the Reds record a fourth successive victory in their pre-season schedule before heading to the United States.

But a flying object encroached above the pitch during the 61st minute of their friendly win at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday night.

Play continued after officers from West Yorkshire Police seized the drone before arresting a 37-year-old, who remains in custody, in connection with the incident.

Liverpool are no strangers to match interruptions from drones. Last September, another man was fined £1,800 for flying one over Anfield.

Nigel Wilson shot videos taken of the stadium during a Champions League group stage game with Ludogorets in 2014 to upload to YouTube.
