Merseyside Police officer struck by car

A police officer has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Huyton.

Officers were carrying out searches for illegal cigarettes and vapes at various business premises on Pilch Lane at around 9.25am on Thursday (April 30).

During the searches, one officer was struck by an AMG Mercedes and suffered an injury to her leg. The driver stopped at the scene to help with the police’s enquiries.

Chief Inspector Christopher Bland said: “We were called to reports of a collision on Pilch Lane where one of our officers was injured this morning.

“We will always fully investigate any incident that causes harm to our officers whilst on duty.

“A police scene is currently in place and members of the public are advised to avoid the area while enquiries are ongoing.”
