New Liverpool signing Jeremy Jacquet has suffered a ‘serious’ injury.
Jacquet is set to join the Anfield ranks this summer after the Premier League champions brokered a deal worth £60 million with Rennes on deadline day.
Arne Slot’s side pipped rivals Chelsea to secure the France under-21 international’s signature in a move that will bolster their currently dwindled centre-back ranks.
But Jacquet had to be helped off the field during the second half of Rennes’ 3-1 defeat to Lens in Ligue 1 on Saturday after sustaining damage to his left shoulder.
Les Rouge et Noirs’ manager Habib Beye confirmed that he faced a major setback alongside teammate Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, who was also injured in the game.
He said: “For Jeremy, it’s his shoulder, and for Abdelhamid, it’s muscular.”
“We’ll have time to see, but it’s definitely quite serious for both of them,.”
