Police have today released further information about the death of Liverpool teenager Mzee Mohammed.
The 18-year-old took ill while in custody in the city centre on Wednesday night.
An investigation is being carried out by the Independent Police Complaints Commission following the death due to the fact that Merseyside Police had been involved with him during his detention by security staff at Liverpool One.
Specialist officers from the force have been providing support to Mohammed’s family in the aftermath of his death.
Merseyside Police also revealed they are ‘working closely with community leaders’ in Toxteth to ensure that both the community and the teenager’s family are both ‘supported and informed during the coming days and weeks’.
However due to the ongoing investigation, the force said they would not be able to release any further details about the incident.
