Lucy Letby will not face further charges over baby deaths and collapses at hospitals where she worked.
The former nurse was convicted of killing seven children at the Countess of Chester Hospital as well as the attempted murder of another six infants.
Letby has been serving 15 full life sentences since August 2023 but was interviewed by police in connection with other deaths and non-fatal collapses.
This included during placements at Liverpool Women’s Hospital in 2012 and 2015 and more from her time in the Countess of Chester’s neonatal unit.
However the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed on Tuesday (January 20) the 36-year-old will not be subject to further prosecution over the incidents.
“Following a thorough review of that evidence, we have decided that no criminal charges should be brought in respect of those further allegations,” read a statement.
“The Crown Prosecution Service considered offences of murder and attempted murder in respect of two infants who died and attempted murder in respect of seven infants who survived.
“We concluded that the evidential test was not met in any of those cases.
“As always, this decision was made independently, based on the evidence and in line with our legal test.
“The CPS has written to the families involved and will offer meetings to explain our decision-making in further detail. Our thoughts remain with them.”
