Five teenagers have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the chest.
Police say a group of males was seen running down Swainson Road in Fazakerley being followed by a second group at around 3.45pm on Sunday (January 11).
A 23-year-old man self-presented at hospital a short time later with a stab wound to his chest and cuts to his face and hands. He remains in a stable condition.
Officers subsequently detailed four boys, one aged 15 and four aged 14, on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and are currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: “This was clearly a shocking incident which has led to a male suffering serious injuries.
“Five males were arrested very quickly and are currently in custody and we continue to make enquiries to establish what has taken place.
“We would ask for anyone who was in the area of Swainson Road yesterday afternoon who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.
“Knife crime has no place on our streets and is vital that those responsible for carrying or using knives are found and brought to justice.”
