Flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport have been grounded by snow and ice.
The arctic weather impacted the runway at the Speke terminal with departures to Amsterdam, Belfast, Barcelona and Paris among those to see services cancelled.
Airport chiefs confirmed at 8am on Monday (January 5) that the runway was closed while maintenance workers attempted to clear the snow and ice from the surface.
A combined 30 flights coming into or leaving LJLA were impacted by the issue, which was finally resolved at 3pm when the runway was cleared for reopening.
“The runway has now reopened following the earlier safety and operational issues caused by the snow and icy conditions experienced throughout today,” the airport’s official X account confirmed.
“Flights are however subject to delay or cancellation. If you are traveling today please check with your airline for the latest information.”
