Liverpool has been crowned the UK’s most generous city for a second year.
GoFundMe placed the city at the top of its annual rankings using donor numbers and population statistics based on appeals on the crowdfunding website.
An appeal for Croxteth toddler Sienna-Rose Millen, who required a private flight after collapsing on holiday in Mexico, was the area’s largest fundraising effort.
More than £100,000 in donations were made alongside £370,000 by the wider Merseyside region to honour the memory of the victims of the Southport attack.
A new playground in Churchtown Primary School to honour Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King, and Elsie Dot Stancombe was made possible by the fundraising.
Liverpool ranked above Glasgow, London, Cardiff and Bristol in making up the top five place
GoFundMe chief executive Tim Cadogan said: “We’ve seen people across the UK help each other in extraordinary ways this year, and Liverpool taking the top spot once again is a testament to the generosity of its community.”
