A man is in a critical condition after a fight outside a West Derby pub.
Emergency services were called to the Hare and Hounds on Mill Lane at around 12.45am on Sunday (December 7) after reports of an altercation.
Members of the public carried out CPR on the 33-year-old man, who was involved in the fight and had suffered significant head injuries.
He was taken to Aintree Hospital where his condition is described as critical.
Police have arrested three people over the incident with a 39-year-old man from Old Swan detained at the scene on suspicion of Section 18 assault.
A 24-year-old man from Croxteth was later taken in for questioning by detectives after self-presenting at hospital with an injury to his face.
The third person, a 43-year-old man from the local area, was also arrested.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, said: “This is a serious assault that has sadly left a 33-year man in a critical condition in hospital.
“The investigation is in its early stages and we are trying to establish the circumstances of what happened.
“We have spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene and are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
“If you were in the area last night and saw what happened or have any information, let us know as a matter of urgency.
“If you live in the area or were driving past at the time, I’d ask you to review your CCTV or dashcam footage to see if you captured anything that could help our investigation.”
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the caring members of the public who carried out vital CPR on the injured man at the scene prior to the emergency services attending.”
