People travelling between Liverpool John Lennon Airport risk severe delays.
Major roadworks are set to be carried out on the approach to the Speke terminal from 10pm on Friday (August 8) until 11pm on Sunday (August 10).
Speke Boulevard and Speke Road will be closed in both directions while essential maintenance works are undertaken throughout the weekend.
Knowsley Council confirmed that the affected area cover Woodend Avenue to the Newstead Farm Interchange roundabout for the Knowsley Expressway.
The works are set to be ‘weather dependent’ but people are being advised to allow for additional travelling time in their journeys to and from the airport.
Motorists travelling from the Knowsley direction will also be impacted by the partial closure of the East Lancs Road from Saturday due to more roadworks.
A £40 million renovation of the electricity network begins this weekend and are currently scheduled to last until the first full week in December.
One lane of the eastbound carriageway will be closed for safety reasons during the work, which will take place between 7am and 5pm daily.
