A New Open-Air Cinema is Now Open in Calderstones Park

The Reader have launched a new open-air cinema, which is the biggest cinema to date in Liverpool. Eight films are going to be shown between the 30th of July and until 28th of August, with a stunning backdrop. The cinema is set against the Georgian Mansion House, which helps to add an element of luxury to the new development. Jen Chapman, who runs the marketing division at The Reader, has released a statement saying that Calderstones Park is the perfect space for their new ambitious project. They have also said that they have taken the time to offer movies based on literary classics, with the option to get freshly-baked pizza and beverages on-site through local vendors.

Entertainment is Getting More Creative

Modern entertainment is changing more and more as time goes on, to try and accommodate evolving consumer preferences. Streaming is bigger than ever right now, so cinemas are getting creative by offering unique viewing experiences, and sing-along sessions for newly-released musicals to try and stay relevant.

This shift is evident in other entertainment verticals as well. Online bingo establishments, for example, are witnessing a huge spike in user interest lately, with 45% of people saying they play solely online. A lot of this comes down to their creative offerings, including game-show inspired bingo rooms. Some are even themed, with variants including Age of the Gods Bingo. Trends like this not only show how quickly entertainment is pivoting but also how people are seeking new and unique experiences.

It’s also clear that people are looking for more immersive forms of entertainment. As traditional formats begin to adapt, we are also seeing more creativity, with this project by The Reader helping to showcase what’s really possible.

Several Films are Queued Up

There are a number of films queued up for the new cinema, with one being Ten Things I Hate About You, which is a take on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Shirley Valentine is going to be shown at the end of July, followed by Sense & Sensibility. There’s also going to be a showing of Romeo & Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which is set to be shown on the 15th of August. The new outdoor cinema has been made a possibility due to a grant from the Livv Housing Group.

They have said that they can’t wait to see how successful the open-air cinema is, and how they aim to not only support the arts, but also build stronger and healthier communities. Cultural events like this are a great way for people to be brought together. If it’s a success, then it wouldn’t be surprising to see even more events like this being held over the years, which could be a real boost to Liverpool’s economy. After all, events like this attract people from out of the area and lead to booms in tourism.

It also has a knock-on effect across the general public, showing how creative events like this really do contribute to the community while providing new and interesting forms of entertainment.
