Police hunting gang behind Fazakerley golf club assault

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attack that saw two men were assaulted with golf clubs.

The incident took place outside the Gui Garden take away in Fazakerley on Thursday, salve June 30 when a 38-year-old was set upon by a gang of males at around 8.45pm as he walked along Longmoor Lane.

Golf clubs, stomach bats and bicycle seats were all reported to have been used in the attack, which saw a second man, aged 32, also injured after he attempted to protect the victim.

The original victim received hospital treatment for a broken nose sustained during the incident and is undergoing further medical investigations.

One of the offenders was described as white, between 5ft 11in and 6ft 1in, of slim build and with a gaunt face. He was wearing a black coat with its hood up.

House to house enquiries have been carried out and CCTV opportunities are being explored.

Detective Sergeant Jennie Keating said: “The victims were simply purchasing food and walking home from the local chip shop when the was attack occurred.

“This assault has left both men with serious injuries and has left them shocked. We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“Part of this assault took place in the road and some drivers are known to have stopped. I would appeal to any of those people, and anybody else who was in the area, to contact us with information about what they may have seen.”
