Diaz reveals ‘normal’ Liverpool transfer talks

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has revealed he is in talks with potential suitors.

Diaz is attracting growing interest since the transfer window opened with Saudi Pro League clubs and Barcelona already monitoring his situation.

The Spanish champions made a tentative enquiry this week but were swiftly rebuffed despite the player’s long-term future still somewhat unresolved.

Anfield chiefs have no intention of selling Diaz this summer as progress on talks over extending his stay beyond 2027 currently remain at an impasse.

But the 28-year-old offered a rare public admission on his future on Thursday in the build-up to Colombia’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Peru.

“I’m very happy at Liverpool, I’ve always said so,” said Diaz.

“They’ve welcomed me very well from day one.

“We’re currently in contact with Liverpool because we’re talking to [other] clubs, and that’s normal given the transfer market opening.

“We’re trying to work out what’s best for us. I’m just waiting to see what happens.

“If Liverpool gives us a good renewal or I still have the [two] years left with them, I’ll be happy and content there.”
