Liverpool welcomed the Queen Elizabeth to mark the centenary of the Cunard Building.
The cruise liner visited the city last May as part of the Three Queens celebration to commemorate the ship firm’s 175th anniversary and returned on Saturday to a carnival atmosphere.
Inger Klein Olsen steered an historic docking as Cunard’s first female captain before a service of celebration was held at the Church of Our Lady and St Nicholas.
Crowds flocked to catch a glimpse of the Queen Elizabeth before a show-stopping send-off saw the Liverpool waterfront lit up in a dazzling display that saw fireworks launched into the night sky from the Cunard Building itself.
