Police probe Croxteth main road shooting

Police are investigating after a man was shot in a Croxteth street.

Officers were called to Altcross Road at just after 10.10pm on Friday following reports that the victim in his 40s had been shot in the legs.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

An investigation is underway and forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing in the local area.

Detective Inspector Joanne Jacob said: “The investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Altcross Road at around 10pm last night who saw or heard anything suspicious or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell camera.

“We know that guns cause misery on our streets and we would ask for the public’s help in coming forward with any information they have so we can find the person or people responsible.

“Merseyside Police is committed to removing firearms from our streets and bringing those who carry or use them to justice and we would ask our communities to help us by coming forward and telling us what they know.”
