Three men have been found guilty of Rikki Berry’s killing.
The 37-year-old was gunned down in Quarryside Drive on July 17 last year with Michael Smith, Adam Williams and Connor Walsh later charged with his murder.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that Berry was fatally shot in Kirkby by a man wearing a balaclava idenified as Smith who fired four rounds while riding an electric bike.
The bike was travelling on the pavement but came almost to a stop as the same time as a black Seat Alteca Cupra car being driven in the same direction.
Phone records revealed that the three men were in contact with each other leading up to the murder and had been in the car together shortly before the incident.
All of the defendents turned their phones off following the shooting while Williams left the Merseyside area as detectivesd hunted down the local father’s assassins.
They will return to the court for sentencing on February 18.
Senior Crown Prosecutor Nicola Wyn Williams of CPS Mersey-Cheshire, said: “This was a shocking, execution-style murder committed on a residential road on a summer evening in July 2024.
“Rikki Berry was at home with his partner and young children when four shots were fired at him by Smith. It was only a matter of chance that no-one else was injured or killed by the gunman’s actions.
“The gunman was not acting alone. The car and bike were acting in tandem. All three defendants had a role to play.
“This has been a difficult and dynamic case. I’m grateful to all those involved in supporting the investigation and prosecution in achieving today’s convictions.
“Guns have no place in our communities. People have a right to expect to be able to live without fear of this sort of violence happening on their doorsteps.”
