Free evening parking in Liverpool city centre is set to come to an end.
Motorists are currently able to park at street level without charge from 6pm daily but will see that privileged ended under new local government plans.
Liverpool City Council intend to extend the charging period until 11pm in a proposal which was first floated by the local authority in November 2022.
The changes are also set to see parking prices increased as the council aims to plug a funding gap of £29 million in its budget ahead of April’s reset.
Andy Mollon, director of sustainable transport, said: “We’ve completed the consultation into the controlled parking zone.
“We brought in additional resources to try and speed that up. We are now looking at the implementation of that at the end of March at the latest.
“It should be in place for the beginning of the new financial year.”
