Merseyside is heading for polls today as millions of people across the UK decide whether or not to remain in the European Union.
After months of fierce campaigning from the opposing political entities, site polling stations across the region opened at 7am and are set to close at 10pm this evening.
While the UK’s final decision could be announced much earlier, here results for the Merseyside section of the national vote are expected around 5am on Friday morning.
Earlier today, a final Ipsos Mori poll gave Remain a slender four-point lead over the Boris Johnson-led Leave campaign.
