Man arrested following Renshaw Street stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Liverpool city centre on Monday evening.

Police were called to the Blarney Stone pub on Renshaw Shaw street just after 8pm following reports that a 70-year-old male had been attacked.

The victim was quickly taken to hospital by local ambulance services, stuff where his condition is currently described as critical.

A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder close to the crime scene and remains in custody for questioning, rx with a police inquiry now under way.

The area immediately surrounding the pub remains cordoned off to the public.
