Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool and Manchester United fans to ‘show class’ in Sunday’s Premier League clash.

This weekend will see the North West rivals do battle at Old Trafford just three weeks after the hosts edged out a breathless FA Cup quarter final encounter.

But the clash was marred by off-field scenes with two Red Devils supporters arrested for allegedly engaging in taunts about the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy.

The Football Associatoin condemned the incidents and vowed to take action against those found guilty of tragedy chanting in efforts to eradicate it.

Previous meetings between Liverpool and United were also overshadowed by unsavoury references to both Hillsborough and the Munich air disaster.

Ahead of the latest showdown, Klopp has implored all supporters not to resort to the offensive jibes, echoing opposite number Erik ten Hag’s programme notes.

He said: “Two of the biggest clubs in the world, so let’s just show a bit of class in these moments, don’t sing this or sing that.

“Let the teams fight on the pitch. Let’s play football, that is all fine. Besides that, just show a bit of class, that would be my wish for all of us.

“It is super important. There are different aspects to this and one is I don’t hear it, honestly, when I am on the sideline.

“I heard after the game that it happened and it obviously is not great.

“But in general it is just helpful that we educate our kids in specific things: respect, understanding, all these things.”
