Plans unveiled for ‘eco dome’ swimming pool at Croxteth Hall Park

Signature Living have put forward exciting new plans for an ‘eco dome’ swimming pool on the site of the current Croxteth Hall Park.

Liverpool City Council is believed to be accepting proposals for the extensive site in the north of the city, which will also see a public consultation by developers on how to revive the park’s fortunes.

Signature Living’s plans would see Croxteth Hall house a luxury wedding venue events space and hotel, with the park itself serving containing a glass-domed swimming pool and log cabins for family usage.

The ambitious scheme will presented to the local council once the proposed public consultation has taken place.
And Signature Living founder Lawrence Kenwright suggested that the plans could well revive the long-term future of a site that he believes could be “better used.”

He said: “Croxteth Hall is an asset to Liverpool but we must be honest, it could be better used. We will be looking to gain a long leasehold interest in this property, leaving the ownership, as it should always be with Liverpool council.

“Although this is a truly exciting plan, it is purely a proposal and we want to hear the views of the local community and the people of Liverpool more widely before we submit it for consideration.

“Our plans for the hall would be sympathetic to its historical legacy and we would intend to improve and invest in the park and gardens.

“For me this is about investing in our great city and a big part of that is providing much needed jobs and training facilities for local people – that is why we are committed to opening a training college within the grounds.

“We already work with colleges from across Merseyside so this would be an extension to that. This is a major part of our proposal. We will not only supply the local area with apprenticeships, but also a genuine path to real long-term employment.”

However, Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has warned that as the public consulation process is very much in its infancy, nothing has, as yet, been ruled in or out at this early stage.

He said: “We have asked people to give their proposals and plans for our parks – but we wouldn’t comment on individual plans that we have not yet seen amd we wouldn’t act on anything without a full consultation with the public and with the Friends of Croxteth Park.

“I do believe that we need to bring animation and attractions to our parks, as well as preserving the natural beauty of them – they need things for people to do. That’s why I brought back the boats to Sefton Park and why I’ve invested money in other parks.

“Although I am keen to stress that, although we’re not ruling anything out, we’re also not ruling anything in.”
