Jordan Pickford is set to sign a new long-term deal with Everton this week.
Pickford remains one of the rare standout performers for the Goodison Park club since his initial £25 million arrival from Sunderland in summer 2017.
But the England international’s future with the Blues appeared under genuine threat as his existing contract set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Initial talks between both parties appeared to have reached an impasse earlier in the season, with the World Cup break proving a decisive factor.
Tottenham were credited with an interest in Pickford while Premier League counterparts Manchester United had also been touted as a potential suitor.
The 28-year-old, however, has never intimated any desire to leave Everton and is now set to reaffirm his commitment to the blue half of Merseyside.
Pickford’s impending renewal is set to provide a timely boost for Sean Dyche as he attempts to steer the club away from relegation troubles this season.
Everton, meanwhile, have been fined £40,000 by the Football Association for their part in fracas during last Monday’s Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool.
Both clubs were charged for failing to control their players in the aftermath of Andy Robertson kicking the ball away from Pickford after being flagged offside.
