Everton have charged by the FA over last season’s win against Crystal Palace.

The May 19 encounter at Goodison Park saw Frank Lampard’s side belatedly clinch their Premier League survival courtesy of a spirited 3-2 fightback.

Palace held a two-goal lead at half time before Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all scored to help preserve the Blues’ top-flight status.

But the euphoric scenes which followed Calvert-Lewin’s match winning header in the 84th minute are now set to be subject to an FA disciplinary hearing.

A small number of fans streamed onto the Goodison turf in the immediate aftermath of the goal while thousands more follow after the final whistle.

“Everton FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20 following its Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace FC on Thursday 19 May 2022,” confirmed an FA statement on Monday.

“It is alleged that in the 84th minute and then following completion of the fixture, Everton FC failed to ensure that its spectators, and all persons purporting to be its supporters or followers, conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from using threatening and/or violent behaviour whilst encroaching onto the pitch area.

“Everton FC has until Monday 18 July 2022 to provide a response.”

Everton, meanwhile, have confirmed that homegrown winger Anthony Gordon will wear the no.10 shirt at the start of the forthcoming 2022/23 campaign.
