Everton could appoint Steve Hitchen as their new director of football.
A structural review of Goodison Park’s operations was ordered by Farhad Moshiri in December after Marcel Brands’ departure and remains ongoing.
It is understood that the Blues have not discounted restoring the position that the Dutchman vacated following his disagreement with the club’s hierarchy.
Hitchen resigned from his post as Tottenham Hotspur’s head of scouting and recruitment on Tuesday amid claims that he had become marginalised.
He was named the north Londoners’ chief scout in 2017 after a five-year spell as their European scout before stints with Liverpool, QPR and Derby County.
But Tottenham’s appointment of Fabio Paratici as managing director of football is said to have limited Hitchen as technical performance director.
Everton have been without any structural lead on football operations since Brands and two of his closest allies left at the end of Rafael Benitez’s tenure.
Head of recruitment Gretar Steinsson and scouting chief Dan Purdy left the club with their decisions believed to be linked to their former superior’s exit.
According to The Guardian, Everton will face competition for Hitchen’s services with Newcastle also interested as part of their own restructuring.
