Frank Lampard kickstarted his Everton reign with two deadline day signings.
Donny van de Beek moved to Goodison Park on Monday a matter of hours after Lampard’s appointment as Rafael Benitez’s replacement was confirmed.
The Holland international joins on loan from Manchester United, where his first-team prospects suffered under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
Van de Beek cited Lampard as a driving force in his move to the Blues as he looks to reignite the form which saw him first rise to prominence with Ajax.
“I had a really positive meeting with the new coach. We have the same ideas about football and he had a lot of influence on my decision.
“I played against him when I was at Ajax, and he was at Chelsea [as manager], so he knows me as a player.
“He thinks I have qualities that can help the team.
“I can learn a lot from him because he was a little bit in the same position – a midfield player who scored a lot of goals. He can help me a lot, so I think I’m in a good spot.
“I want to improve with Everton. There are always things that can be better and I work hard every day to do that.”
Lampard also added Dele Alli to his new ranks with the Tottenham forward joining on a permanent deal which is only payable if he plays 20 matches.
Both the 25-year-old and Van de Beek are automatically cup-tied, therefore can only play a maximum of 18 times for Everton respectively this season.
Alli moved to Merseyside on an initial free transfer with £10 million owing after he passes the game threshold and a further £30m in further add-ons.
