Frank Lampard wants his Everton reign to be in ‘two-way’ unison.

Lampard signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Goodison Park after the lengthy search for Rafael Benitez’s permanent replacement reached its conclusion.

The 43-year-old is set to take charge of first-team training on Monday ahead of his bow in this weekend’s FA Cup fourth round home tie with Brentford.

He inherits a Blues side in turmoil with 19 points from this season’s first 20 games leaving them hovering above the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Lampard’s coaching setup will include several stalwarts from his time at Chelsea, including Carlo Ancelotti’s trusted former assistant Paul Clement.

Joe Edwards, who was promoted by Lampard during his time at Stamford Bridge, is also joining alongside fitness and conditioning coach Chris Jones.

Everton caretaker Duncan Ferguson and fellow longstanding backroom member Alan Kelly are set to complete the new backroom ranks.

Both Lampard and Ferguson took part in a final round of talks for the vacant hot sat with the Goodison hierarchy and supremo Farhad Moshiri last Friday.

But the Everton boss requested that the Scot remained part of his first-team plans after serving under six different managers in the previous eight years.

And Lampard set out the core vision for his tenure by urging players and fans to be attuned in their quest to move upwardly after their nadir under Benitez.

He said: “I’m very hungry to get started.

“After speaking to the owner, chairman and the board, I very much felt their passion and ambition. I hope they felt my ambition and how hard I want to work to bring it together.

“You can feel the passion Everton fans have for their club. That will be hugely important.

“As a team – the competitive level that the Premier League brings and the position we are in the table – we certainly need that.
“It’s a two-way thing. I think Everton is a unique club in that you can really understand what the fans want to see.

“The first thing they want is fight and desire and that must always be our baseline.

“My first message to the players will be that we have to do this together. We’ll try to do our job and I know the fans will be there backing us.”
