Next season’s Liverpool home kit takes inspiration from the Bill Shankly era.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are set to wear their strip for the 2021/22 campaign in Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season against Crystal Palace.
Manufacturers Nike have paid homage to Shankly’s now-legendary move to change the club’s kit to an all-red ensemble in 1964 with their design process.
The shirt is detailed with bolted pinstripes which compliment bright crimson sleeve cuffs and neckline, said to represent ‘power, energy and danger’.
In addition to the bold design, Liverpool’s new kit will be their most sustainable with all shirts made from 100% recycled polyester fabric.
As part of Nike’s ‘Move to Zero’ sustainability drive, plastic bottles are collected, cleaned and melted to make a high-quality yarn for production.
Virgil van Dijk said: “It’s great to see the perfect blend of our heritage and Nike’s product innovation for our new home kit.
“Being part of the swoosh family for years, they’ve been at the forefront of sustainable design and it goes a long way into making our sport a greener one.
“I can’t wait for the fans to see it in person next season.”
Liverpool’s new kit is available to pre-order from the club’s official online store and will go on general sale from Thursday, June 3.
