Liverpool are set to hold emergency talks with fans over the Super League fallout.
Billy Hogan, the club’s CEO, agreed to meet with supporters’ union Spirit of Shankly in the wake of the controversial and short-lived breakaway plot.
Nearly 90 per cent of members polled by the group backed fan representation on the Anfield board in light of the Super League proposals.
Responding to Monday’s statement, Hogan acknowledged the position adopted by SOS and advocated discussions on ‘positive, meaningful change’.
“I wanted to respond at the earliest possible opportunity for two reasons,” he wrote.
“Firstly, to restore good faith to our engagement process as quickly as possible and secondly, to underline the seriousness with which we are taking the current situation and the need for positive, meaningful change to occur.
“In this respect, it is positive that SOS has opted to re-engage with the club as it will allow the necessary conversations to take place, for views to be aired and, hopefully, for workable solutions to be found in keeping with the best interests of the club.”
