Jurgen Klopp expects Liverpool to face ‘even worse’ backlash next season.
Klopp’s side were verbally abused as they arrived for Monday’s game with Leeds United following the short-lived launch of the European Super League.
Leeds’ players also sent a pre-match message to their visitors by warming up in T-shirts that declared they must ‘earn’ a place in the Champions League.
The Reds later withdrew from the controversial proposals with their Premier League counterparts, who all faced widespread opposition from supporters.
But Klopp anticipates the initial act will lead to his team receiving heightened levels of abuse once fans return to stadiums in August.
He said: “I’m not worried about it. I know it will be like this, of course.
“Football fans like to use these kind of things. It’s not only for Liverpool but probably for us as well. It’s not about fair play in these moments.
“I’m pretty sure the supporters of Leeds showing up at the stadium knew we were not involved [in the Super League proposals].
“They just wanted to tell us what they told us. It will be even worse when people are back in the stadiums.
“I don’t know what we will do with that next year. It doesn’t help us.
“It was always the same. Newcastle, a year-and-a-half ago, we played there with a [full] crowd and I didn’t know why they were like this.
“The whole stadium wanted everybody to win that game apart from us.
“I don’t know a lot of club who like Liverpool when we play there so [it will be] business as usual.”
Repercussions for the six Premier League clubs who signed up to the continental breakaway could see them docked points in the new campaign.
Such measures have previously only been sanctioned for clubs whose owners allow them to fall into administration, including Bury and Wigan.
However Klopp does not believe Liverpool should be made to suffer for a decision taken without consultation by the club’s American hierarchy.
“For what reason did Bury and Wigan get points deductions? That’s slightly different I would say,” added the German.
“What can I say about that? A lot of people said a lot of things about it. They all had their reasons. I don’t see a reason to punish the clubs, not for that.
“Nothing happened. We are now in the same situation as we were before. If somebody wants to punish us for that, I cannot change that.”
