Two people have been arrested after breaking into the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Staff were called ‘murderers’ and ‘liars’ by a group of three women who made their way onto operational wards at around 9.25pm on Tuesday, January 12.
Video footage widely circulated on social media also showed homophobic abuse being directed at a male nurse alongside insults of ‘f*** the NHS’.
On-site security removed the women, who are thought to have entered the premises through the hospital’s Accident and Emergency department.
Police have since detained two individuals in connection with the disorder.
A 33-year-old woman from Kensington and a 43-year-old from Toxteth were arrested on suspicion of using threatening/abusive words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress.
Both were taken to local police stations for questioning by detectives and have since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “The investigation is ongoing and we are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the Royal Hospital on the evening of the 12th January who witnessed the incident or has information to contact us via our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ or by calling 101 with reference 21000024838.”
