Police are appealing for witnesses after shots were fired at a Kirkdale flat.
Officers were called to Fountains Road at 12.24am on Sunday and discovered damage to the front door of the property consistent with a firearm discharge.
No one is believed to have been injured during the incident.
Crime Scene Investigators carried out forensic examinations at the scene and began house-to-house enquiries in connection with the incident.
High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the local area to provide reassurances to the community.
Detective Inspector Tara Denn, said: “An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area around Fountains Road shortly before, or after the incident, to contact us.
“Information they have could be vital. I am particularly interested in talking to anyone who may have seen males, in dark clothing in the area shortly before the incident took place.”
