Merseyside Police have given their backing for games to again be played at Goodison Park and Anfield.
The Premier League’s planned return from the coronavirus had threatened to see the rescheduled Merseyside derby on June 20 moved to a neutral venue.
Liverpool’s expected title triumph had led to fears that the club’s fans may gather outside Everton’s home for the behind closed doors clash to celebrate.
National police chiefs outlined plans for the 236th derby as well as the Reds’ remaining four home games of the season to be held at other stadiums.
But Merseyside Police have cast doubt on those proposals by insisting on Friday that they are supportive of both clubs playing in their own grounds.
“In relation to crime and disorder we have no objections to any of the Everton or Liverpool home fixtures being played at their respective grounds,” read a force statement.
“We have a good working relationship with both clubs, and their fan groups, and are content that we can work together in advance of the restart of the season.
“Decisions in relation to public health risk are made by the Government and Public Health England and ultimately the final decision rests with the Safety Advisory Group, which is chaired by Liverpool City Council in line with the decisions made nationally in relation to sporting events.”
