An 84-year-old man has died after he was hit by a police vehicle in Spital, Wirral.
The Independent Office of Police Conduct confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and unfortunately the man passed away as a result of his injuries.
The gentleman was struck by a marked police vehicle at around 11.15 on Wednesday. The police watchdog confirmed that the vehicle had not been responding to an emergency at the time.
A spokeswoman said the man died on Thursday evening and that his next of kin had been informed.
The circumstances of the incident, including whether or not blue lights were used are currently subject to the ongoing investigation.
