Man stabbed in Concert Square brawl

A man has been stabbed in both the head and back during a brawl in Liverpool’s Concert Square.

It is understood that four men were involved in a fight with another group of men. An 18-year-old man has also been left with serious injuries to his face as a result of the incident.

The victim of the stabbing was left with injuries to his back and head. Doormen from surrounding pubs have been attributed with saving the man’s life following the incident.

It is understood one doorman apprehended the offender whilst the other worked to help the stabbing victim. Police have recovered a knife from the scene.

A 19-year-old man from the Liverpool area has been arrested.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We have arrested a man following an incident in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, 5 December.

“At around 2.20am, it was reported that a group of four males were involved in an altercation with other males on Fleet Street.

“A short time later, a 24-year-old man was assaulted, sustaining stab wounds to his head and back. Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment to serious, both non-threatening injuries.

“A 19-year old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent. He has been taken to a local police station for questioning.

“A knife was recovered from the scene.
