A man’s body has been found in the River Mersey near Otterspool promenade.
Emergency services were called to Beechwood Road South at around 10am on Thursday to reports that the body of a man had been seen in the water.
Merseyside Police, Fire & Rescue Service and Coatguard and the North West Ambulance Service all attended the scene where he was removed from the water.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are currently treating the death as unexplained and a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and inform his next of kin.
