Builder wrecks Liverpool hotel in pay dispute

A builder dismantled a Liverpool hotel’s reception in a dispute over pay.

Footage of the man driving a digger through the doors of a recently built Travelodge near Edge Lane went viral on social media on Monday afternoon.

Several onlookers pleaded with the driver to stop the wreckage, which saw the hotel’s main doors, reception desk and windows all decimated in the act.

It is believed that the worker carried out the act over £600 in unpaid wages.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help raise the money owed as well as for any potential legal fees from the incident and has received over £1,000 in donations.

Merseyside Police confirmed that a report was received at around 3pm on Monday about the digger being driven into the hotel entrance at Innovation Park.

The driver then left the vehicle and made off on foot in the direction of Edge Lane while another man was treated for irritation due to exposure to diesel.
