Kurt Zouma admits he is relishing the battle for places in Everton’s defence.
Zouma became the final signing of Marco Silva’s inaugural transfer window as he arrived on a season-long loan from Chelsea at the beginning of August.
The France centre-back is expected to make his full Blues debut in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup second round tie against Rotherham United.
Silva will be without the injured Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka through suspension as his side prepare to welcome the Championship newcomers.
Yerry Mina will also be unavailable as he works his way back to fitness following a £27.2 million signing from Barcelona on transfer deadline day.
But Zouma is both anticipating and welcoming a healthy competition within the ranks when Everton are back to full-strength in the coming weeks.
He said: “It’s very important moment for me because I came here to play and I am ready to come here and help the team win games.
“In every team there is competition, so if one goes out, the other one has to do the same or even better to keep their place.
“But the attitude and the spirit in the team is very good, so every player in the team will want to win and want to give everything for the team.”
“In the big clubs there is good competition and you will see everybody giving 100 per cent when they get a chance,” added Zouma.
“That can help the team to win and show the fans that we want to make them happy and make ourselves happy.”
