Everton misfit Davy Klaassen has sealed a permanent move to Werder Bremen.
Klaassen, 25, struggled to adapt to life at Goodison Park following his £23.6 million switch from Ajax last summer and made just three Premier League starts.
The Holland international’s first-team prospects diminished in the wake of compatriot Ronald Koeman’s sacking as Blues manager in late October.
Attempts to seek regular football elsewhere during the January transfer window saw a proposed loan move to Napoli collapse at the eleventh hour.
He joined Bremen on Friday in a deal understood to stand at £12m, meaning Everton have taken a 50 per cent hit on their original outlay.
“It was important to me to know exactly where the journey was going on the pitch and the ambitions of the club have convinced me,” said Klaassen.
“After my exchange with (coach) Florian Kohfeldt I have a very good feeling that I can make an important contribution here with my abilities.
“The coach wants to play attractive, offensive football. I am really looking forward to this.”
