Sam Allardyce has hailed Everton’s draw at Swansea as ‘a battling point’.
A first-half own goal put the Blues ahead at the Liberty Stadium only for the hosts to pull level through a Jordan Ayew strike after the interval.
Travelling fans made their frustrations known to Allardyce as his players went in for the break but the Everton manager saw positives from the result in South Wales.
He said: “We’ve come here and got the lead and dug out a point. It was a battling point, no doubt.
“There are teams fighting at the bottom and Swansea showed a lot spirit.
“Seamus Coleman could have won it but when you get a point away from home you have to respect it in the Premier League.
“It’s not the best performance but it moves us on. Our home form is our mainstay, we’ve been brilliant there this season.
“We want to pass the ball better and should have done. but the fighting spirit of a team at the bottom you have to deal with.
“We held our own and it could have been a different story. I’m sure Swansea are saying they should have won it and perhaps they should but our keeper takes some beating.”
Responding to the supporters’ reaction, Allardyce added: “I never get annoyed by the fans (reaction), but you need to give some credit to the opposition.
“We would have liked to have played better, and the confidence comes from not losing away, and that’s what we did today.”
