Police launch appeal in hunt for attacker behind Liverpool city centre bar attack

Police have launched an appeal for information after a man was glassed outside a Liverpool city centre bar last month.

The victim, who was enjoying a drink with family in Smokie Mo’s on Ranelagh Street, when he was hit with the glass, suffered severe lacerations to his face on March 30.

He later required hospital treatment and stitches for his injuries.

The attacker, believed to be part of a larger group, was then ejected from the bar by security staff, before fleeing in the direction of Lime Street station.

Police have released a description of the man they are determined to catch.

The attacker is described as a white male, around 30 years old, stocky build with short dark hair and a goatee beard.

“We are keen to speak with the man pictured to assist us with our enquiries”, said Liverpool CID officer Phil Mahon.

“The victim was enjoying a quiet night with family when an argument broke out. He attempted to act as peacemaker, to be met with such a violent response has left him in pain, scarred and extremely shocked”, added Det. Inspector Mahon.

The attack is the second in the bar in as many months, following a violent attack on a man in February.

Anyone with information should contact Liverpool CID on 0151 777 4065 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
