Liverpool FC to reject £100m offer for Coutinho

Liverpool will continue to play hardball with Barcelona over Philippe Coutinho.

The Catalans are expected to return to Anfield officials with an improvement on last month’s initial £72 million approach following their £198m sale of Neymar.

That could see the Brazilian playmaker valued at upward of £100m by Barca but Liverpool remain unwilling to part with their talisman for any price.

Various reports in Spain had claimed that Coutinho informed the Reds’ hierarchy of his plans to leave while Barca were hopeful of finalising a deal by Tuesday.

However Click Liverpool understands that the 25-year-old has not submitted a transfer request nor have Liverpool received any follow-up offers from Barca.

Coutinho’s future on Merseyside remains safeguarded by a new five-year contract signed in January with the continued absence of any buy-out clauses.

Liverpool are under no pressure to accept offers for Coutinho unlike when his former team mate Luis Suarez secured a £65m move to Barca in 2014.
