Merseyside Fire Service was called to an incident at San Carlo restaurant this morning.
Two engines were dispatched to the City Centre haunt on Castle Street after staff emergency services had been alerted to the outbreak of a small fire in the ground floor of the restaurant.
Staff were evacuated from the building, with the surrounding area cordoned off as firefighters dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue described “a small electrical fire in the kitchen area on the ground floor,” as the cause of the call-out.
It said: “Firefighters were called to San Carlo restaurant on Castle Street in Liverpool at 9.38am on Wednesday, April 13.
“Two fire engines attended the incident which involved a small electrical fire in the kitchen area on the ground floor. Fire crews used a CO2 extinguisher to put out the fire. They isolated the electricity supply and ventilated the property.”
The chain’s social media account has announced that the Castle Street restaurant will be closed this lunchtime, with electrical work at the property currently ongoing.
