Liverpool are close to completing Mohamed Salah as their first major summer signing.
The midfielder had been on the verge of a move to the Reds in 2014 before opting to join Chelsea instead but was subsquently offloaded to AS Roma.
After producing 13 goals and nine assists for Roma last season, Salah caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp in as he bids to strengthen his squad.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Egypt international’s agent Ramy Abbas has agreed terms with the club, meaning Anfield officials now need to agree on a fee with Roma.
However the Serie A runners-up are understood to be holding out for a fee in the region of £30 million.
Salah revealed in April last year that he was keen on a move to Anfield from Basel before the intervention of then Blues manager Jose Mourinho.
“Liverpool had wanted me for a number of months. They had opened talks in October 2013,” he said at the time.
“Negotiations took a long time, because Basel rejected more than one offer.
“They felt the transfer fee was not that high. I was waiting for Liverpool because I really like Liverpool. I was eager to join them.
“But then I received a phone call from Mourinho and that changed everything. He explained the situation to me and told me that he needed me at Chelsea.
“That was one of the main reasons why I joined Chelsea. Mourinho told me that he thought I was a good player and that he wanted me to pick Chelsea.”
