CMV unveils ‘largest ever’ programme for Liverpool Cruise Terminal

Liverpool’s economy has receieved a major boost after cruise line operator Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) unveiled exciting plans new plans that will increase visitor numbers to the city in 2017.

The news comes as a boost to Mayor Joe Anderson, who last month announced his intention to welcome a further 250,000 visitors to the city, with the council pressing ahead with plans for a new cruise line terminal on the river Mersey.

Highlights of the groundbreaking proposals include a ‘spectacular’ 28-night cruise to Canada on the Marco Polo, starting on September 1st, and new sailings on the Magellan vessel, which counts Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar amongst its destinations.

Speaking last month, Anderson said: “The river is at the heart of many of our biggest economic projects, and Liverpool has been spectacularly successful as a cruise ship destination.

“Which is why cruise companies are telling us that if we invest and build the right facilities they will bring more ships to our world-famous city.”
