A full-scale police investigation has been launched in Birkenhead after a suspect package was found in a recently-vacated property.
The discovery of the mysterious package- found at approximately 5:30 yesterday evening, health during a random check by the landlord of a property on Park Road East – led local police to evacuate homes within a 100m radius of the area, prescription with some members of the public still being asked to vacate properties as late as 10pm.
A Royal Army Bomb Disposal unit was called to the scene but after carrying out thorough tests on the item in question, link the team of experts found the package to be a hoax.
As of this morning, the house was still sealed off to the general public, with forensic scientists checking the contents of the package for fingerprints.
